Get cozy! Light a candle and turn on that dopamine playlist. Step into a scene where you can feel all senses heightened. From the moment of my hand taking place of the “paintbrush”, to the moment the pigment and sparkly dust creates friction on the texture of the surface.
My process is as important, if not, more important than the end piece. Romanticizing all of the mess- dust, the smear of pastel across my face from debating to grab more coffee, music that sets the mood. The ugly part of the process, is actually the most important part.. Without the messy, ugly parts of painting with soft pastel, I don’t get the “A-ha!” moments. Take it as a practice of romanticizing the mundane moments that already exist in our day to day lives.
